“Blessings through the Storm”

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation. he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
Psalm 62: 1-2

My dear friend, if you have ever woken up one day and that day completely shook your world upside down and now you are left with broken dreams, promises and a hurting heart I completely understand what you are going through.   Take heart in knowing that you are not the only one going through a storm.
The Lord has placed me right in the middle of the biggest storm I have ever been in on my walk with Him. I do not know what is going to happen, I cannot see the end of the tunnel, but I do know who can see it all and I am clinging to the wonderful name of Jesus.  One of my sweet friends shared with me that during a hard time in her life she remembered this famous poem “Footprints in the Sand.”

“One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints. Other times there were one set of footprints. This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat I could see only one set of footprints. So I said to the Lord “You promised me Lord, that if I followed you. You would walk with me always, but I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there have only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most have you not been there for me?”  The Lord replied,” The times when you have seen only one set of footprints is when I carried you.” – Mary Stevenson 1984

I absolutely love this. One of my friends asked me the other day how I was doing and I told her, “ I was getting a piggy-back ride from the Lord and making it each day with Him carrying me “( Philippians 4:13). I know, He is carrying me through each day. I would not be able to stand this strong with this much peace, if He was not present in all of this, and although I am in a storm, I cannot tell you all of the sweet blessings that the Lord has poured out to me through this .  I know I am resting in His loving arms and taking each new day with Him and in His perfect will and glory.

Although this storm is painful and hurts I am glad and so thankful for this wonderful time with my One True Lover, Jesus (James 1:2-5). I have never felt closer to Him and I can hear Him speaking through all of this’ telling me to be patient, to wait, to listen to Him and to pray, everyday over all, of this in His name.  For any of you that know me, you will know that being patient and waiting are the hardest struggles for me. When I heard the Lord saying that, my first reaction was, “I have to fix this situation Lord”.  This storm that I am in I have to fix it. I could hear the Lord saying,” Daughter, trust me and let me handles this. I have already walked this path and I knew this was going to happen before I even created you so find rest in my arms and trust fully and completely in me through this. I promise to bring you good from this but you must trust and follow me.”
How Awesome is our God! Whenever I get down and my human nature wants to take over I simply pray to the Lord for peace and rest in this and my soul is instantly at peace in Him.

If you are in the middle of a storm in your life sweet brother or sister I urge you to draw close to the Lord in this. Do not try and take control and think you can fix it. Simply find rest in the loving, strong and mighty arms of your Savior. He can handle this storm. He does not need our help in this. He has the power to make the earth tremble simply by looking at it and the power to touch mountains and make them smoke (Psalm 104:32).   So why would you think he cannot handle something in your life as well? You must have trust and faith through this and believe that He can do this. You have to remember that He is also in charge and control of the outcome and the end of the storm.  You must trust that whatever happens after the rain stops,  that it is in His perfect will and it is just as He wants it (Romans 8:28). What an awesome God we serve. Bask in His sweet blessings today.  Through all your heart ache, trouble, sickness, and doubt and find comfort and joy in knowing that King Jesus is on His throne and is watching over you in all of this. He has the best plans for you. All He needs you to do is simply trust and follow Him!

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it  again; Rejoice!- Philippians 4: 4
